We love any opportunity we can find to sit down and get to know some of the faces behind making the Rotary Family Health Days great! This month we caught up with a fellow Rotarian from the Constantia Club in the Western Cape. Meet Mr. Geoff von Klemperer:
We asked Geoff how long he had been serving with the Rotary Family Health Days? He shared he was one of the original volunteers at the inception in 2013, and is excited to be with us again here for our 2018 campaign! “Initially, the involvement with the Rotary Family Health Days was delegated by my Club…now the challenge to provide better and extra services is what keeps me coming back each year to serve.”
Q: What is your function in serving at the Health Days? Convener of a Site. [editor: as a Site Champion Geoff works with partners, government, volunteers and media at site level to find the services most relevant to the communities where he is serving. Then their Site Team helps everyone from marketing, to serving on the day and ensuring all attendees are provided top-quality service and evaluated for both tracking the campaign impact, and the link to care after the event is over!]
Q: What is one of your favourite things about working with the Health Days? I enjoy the interaction with the Community at all levels.
Q: What is your day job? Retired 10 years…formerly CEO of Textile manufacturer
Q: Where else do you volunteer or serve? Youth, Publicity, fundraising, membership, projects, for Constantia Rotary Club
And our final get to know you Question for Geoff: If you could turn any activity into an Olympic Sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for? Equestrian sport for geriatrics.
